This event is intended for anyone who is interested in learning about resources available to immigrants in Maryland, becoming a volunteer, and connecting with fantastic organizations that need your help.

The agenda includes:

  • 4:00pm-5:00pm – Presentation: Immigration and Immigrant Rights 101—what do you need to know about the current landscape?
  • 5:00pm-6:00pm – Networking Event: Meet organizations that serve immigrants and need your help!
  • 6:00pm-7:00pm – Breakouts on Hot Topics

Green Card Workshop in Baltimore

Esperanza Center and Exelon are hosting an opportunity for refugees and asylees to apply for their Green Cards in June 2017.

Why? 

  • Travel easier and faster
  • Immigrate more family members
  • If you are a refugee, you MUST apply for a green card after 1 year
  • If you are an asylee, you SHOULD apply for a green card after 1 year
  • Continue your path to US citizenship

Needed Documents: 

  • Copy of birth certificate plus certified, full translation
  • 2 recent passport-sized photos
  • Appropriate part of medical exam (in sealed envelope) and copy
  • All passports/travel documents used
  • Copy of Social Security Card
  • Copy of asylum approval, if applicable
  • Copy of Employment Authorization Document (work permit card)
  • Copy of I-94 card
  • If you have been arrested, detained, went to court, or talked to the police for any reason: Bring ALL documents relating to the arrest, conviction, court appearance, final disposition, probation, etc.
  • For asylees only: USCIS filing fee of $1255 in money order OR copy of benefits letter (food stamps, SSI, TANF, Medicaid, CHIP) OR copy of most recent tax return

Bring all of the above documents to your first appointment on June 6. 

Applications will be finalized at second appointment on June 10 with an attorney.
